William David Johnson

I never thought the day would come that I would finally get to meet this little guy.
Introducing William David Johnson...aka Liam
Born October 6th 2011 at 2:48 p.m.
6lbs 8oz 20"
We are crazy about this guy.

Birth Story:

Josh's birthday was Wednesday the 5th so we went to the Rio Grande for dinner and called the hospital before we ate to find out what time they would be ready for us.  Both of us must have been pretty nervous because we ate really fast and had 1 1/2 hours to kill before we could go in.  Luckily my sister Ave lives close to LDS hospital so we went to her house and watched t.v. to pass time.  At 7:30 Josh looked over and said we should probably go.  I got the sickest feeling in my stomach even though I was so ready.  We walked in silence into the hospital and Josh said just think when we leave we will have Liam with us.  We checked in and they showed us our room, which was massive, and told me to get in my hospital gown and get comfy.  At about 8:30 they gave my cytotec (a drug to help you dilate)  It didn't do really do anything but the nurse assured me it would eventually.  Every time I had to pee I had to call a nurse in to UN-hook me from the monitors, which was quite often since I nervously over did it on diet coke at the restaurant.  Josh started chugging regular coke around 10 because he was already exhausted.  They gave me another cytotec every 3 hours til finally around 4:00 a.m. my contractions hit.  Talk about pain.  Josh was totally freaked out seeing me in so much pain trying to breath through it.  The nurse told me I could have my epidural whenever I wanted to and I told her I felt like a wimp getting it so early.  So they gave me a pain killer through my i.v. and it instantly knocked me out, along with the pain, until about 5:30 when I started realizing how I never want to eat at Rio grande ever again.  Chips and salsa just doesn't appeal to me in a blue plastic bag.
The contractions got worse and I caved and wanted my epidural NOW.
This part I was most nervous about and it ended up being the easiest part and the best decision I've ever made.  The doc came in around 7 and said wow your dilated to a 6 and your contractions are getting really close together, she broke my water, and It shouldn't be to much longer.  She was going to go assist in a surgery and to page her if anything more progressed.  At 9:00ish my contractions were very close together (of course that's what the monitor said, I was feeling good!).  Then all the sudden the nurse was throwing an oxygen mask on my face rolling me to my right side screaming to page my doctor and kept yelling for another doctor.  Nurses were rushing in and everyone was yelling medical lingo back and forth.  Josh was frantic asking what was going on,  they explained the babies heart rate was really low and was dropping with every contraction.  All I could think about was the blessing Josh gave me a few days before telling me to trust my doctors and nurses and the Lord would help comfort me.  My nurse was measuring out some sort of goo and jabbed it right in my arm.  They yanked my monitors off and started putting a tube into my uterus.  I felt so useless just laying there.  The tube was pumping fluids into the baby trying to stabilize him.  My contractions stopped and the room calmed down alot.  There were people in there I had never seen explaining to me what they were doing and why.  They just let my body try to stabilize before they were going to do anything.  At about 11:00 they started me on a low drip of pitocin to try to get my contractions going again.  My epidural just wasn't taking the edge off as much as before so my wonderful dr came and upped my dosage.  It worked, fast.  My contractions started and I started feeling some pressure.  At 12:00 the nurse came and check me, I was a 10 and ready to push.  Slowly my quiet room was set up with blue tarps and lights and surgical trays.  I pushed for 2 hours and was running out of energy, my body had had it.  I heard the doctor say she isn't going to be able to push him out, she is exhausted.  With the help of a vacuum and some snips Liam was born at 2:48 p.m.  Josh told me when his head first came out Liam turned and looked right at him.  I have never seen Josh so struck before.  Childbirth is incredible.  We are so glad that besides some minor bumps we are all ok and healthy.  Liam is borderline jaundice but it is already showing signs of going away on it's own so thank goodness we don't need to use lights.
We are so Crazy about Liam.  All I want to do is kiss his face all day long.  Josh is an amazing dad and has been so hands on.  He always has Liam in his arms if he is not eating.  It has been so fun to watch Josh be so smitten by our little guy.  He talks to him about the football games, makes fun of mom, and calls every hour to see what he is missing while he is at work.  When Josh got home tonight he showered so fast and ran into the living room grabbed Liam and said It is so fun to have something to look forward to coming home to (besides me of  course).  I love these two boys so much I can't even explain it.
Life has changed so much (in a good way).  Being a mom is hard.  Nothing in life can prepare you for being a mom.  I'm protective, emotional, forgetful, and paranoid to a whole new level.  That being said,  I am so lucky to have such a calm happy baby.  My pregnancy was easy, my delivery wasn't horrendous, and my baby is amazing.  I feel so blessed.  Thank you to every one for your sweet calls, texts, and meals.  Now for the fun part.....Pictures (beside the first three the rest of these are way out of order but i'm to busy to care)

Update

Contrary to what my "pregnancy ticker" says...my baby boy is not 2 days old...yet.  I have had so many supportive family members and friends that are anxious right along with me.  I have had a hard last few days so if you have called or text and not received a response, I don't dislike you...I'm just sick of explaining my ultimate frustration.  There is only so much dusting, laundry, vacuuming, and dishes that can be done, I have four weeks (now three) of absolutely nothing but time for my baby.  So you can imagine how bored I have been.  Friday I had a doctor appointment and I was so hopeful she was going to tell me wow you are a 6 go to the hospital.  I must be over thinking it because nothing has changed.  I'm still a 1 and I'm still 70% effaced.  She was able to "strip" me a little more, but it hasn't done anything.  We scheduled to go in Wednesday night were I will stay at the hospital (Happy Birthday Josh) and they will give me a pill every 2 hours to try and start labor.  If I haven't started by Thursday morning they will start the pitocin.  I am hoping he comes on his own before then but at this point I'm not to optimistic.  He is stubborn, just like his parents.  People keep telling me he will come when he is ready, which I know is true, but it's the last thing I want to hear right now.  I will definitely be posting after we have him to let everyone know.  But until then I've made Josh keep me busy and out of the house as much as possible to try and keep my mind off of how uncomfortable I am and how my time off is slowly slipping away.  I never thought I would be so ready to hold my little baby as I am now.  Since I don't write in a journal I just want to take a minute to document some other feelings. My sweet husband and dad gave me a blessing last night.  I can't explain how much love and peace I have felt since then.  Josh said some very comforting and beautiful things.  Things I had forgotten and needed to be reminded.  I can't express how much love I have for the priesthood and the men in my life that are worthy holders.  Sometimes it is easy for me to forget how much The Savior loves me and how blessed I am, I am glad to have The Gospel and the Priesthood to remind me of the love I feel in return for My Heavenly Father.  What a great way to start my conference weekend.  I am so grateful for the love and support that I have felt, especially from my sweet husband Josh.  He is amazing and I couldn't have gone through this experience without him.

29 weeks to 40 weeks

Although this is semi-depressing here is what 11 weeks difference made.  I didn't even feel like smiling in the picture I took today because I feel a lot cuter in my mind than translates in the mirror or in pictures.  Friday I had my membranes stripped and had my first and only so far painful contraction.  I was still a 1 but 70%effaced.  Last night we went on a walk and I was sure something miraculous would happen.  Each day I don't have this baby means I have to go back to work that much sooner after he is born and I'm SOOO bored.  I have an appointment this friday to schedule an induction if I haven't had him by then.  I'm getting a little desperate, today I tried jumping squats.  I'm really hoping I watch conference with a sweet baby in my arms this year.

Pitty Party Aftermath

Well for those of you who haven't already heard me whining
about my weekend here you go.  I went to my doctor appt. Friday feeling
great and ready to have her tell me I'm a 5 and to go to the hospital!
I was waiting for her and the nurse came in instead and said so I have some bad news for you, your doctor has been put on bed rest.  (She is 29 weeks and having contractions)  She told me another doctor would be in soon to meet me.  A billion things flashed through my head.  I'm a planner I like to know that everything is scheduled and perfect, I'm 2 weeks away what am I going to do!  I also have a hard time hiding my emotions.  I looked over at Josh and said hurry say something to make me happy, he didn't understand why...until I started hysterically crying.  I couldn't hold back the tears.  I grabbed a tissue and said hurry blow on my eyes I feel so rude.  The new Doctor walked in and I couldn't get it together.  I apologized and she introduced herself.  Looking back she was really great and nice and i'm sure she thought I am the biggest drama queen.  As soon as we got into the car I had an emotional break down.  I think this is the first time Josh has really seen me this upset.  He just blank stared at me.  As soon as I could catch my breath to talk I told him I don't expect you to try and make me feel better I just need you to feel bad for me and let me have a pitty party.  And pitty party I did, all weekend.  But now it's Monday and I need to move on.  This morning I woke up thinking why am I so worried about what doctor will be there?  I have had a very smooth and healthy pregnancy with a very healthy baby on the way!  I'm so blessed.  I will miss my not having my doctor there (and many people have pointed out to me that they are barely there anyways it's the nurses that do all the dirty work) but there are things I can't control and I just have to get over it!  Right now I'm just enjoying the fall air, the way to long of a walk Josh and I took yesterday, and cuddling up with Josh with no interruptions!

Looks like someone else loves the pregnancy pillow!
I took this last weekend and forgot, It makes me smile.
I wish I would've got a better picture, at one point he was fully wrapped around it.  Love Him.

38 weeks

Here I am 38 weeks, still no baby.  Last week my doctor told me she doesn't think I'm going to make it to my due date...but I'm starting to think I might!  Other than finishing up at work I'm so ready to be done!  I laugh at myself when I have to build up momentum to roll over in bed.  Josh thinks it's hilarious when I need help un-cuffing my jeans, or when I'm winded from putting my shoes on.  We have the nursery all set up all we need now is our baby!  I wish I had more to say, but I woke up today with a splitting headache and anxiety that I need to make sure every ounce of laundry is clean "just in case."  I have a Dr. appointment today and I'm hoping she tells me to head to the hospital afterwards.  We shall see!

(Thanks Miranda for snapping this of me and reminding me I never know when my last belly shot will be)

Baby Showers

I've been so spoiled by family and friends.  I want
to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has thrown me a shower,
come to a shower, and been so generous with gifts.  Yesterday I had my last shower....#5!  I'm the worst at remembering to take pictures, I only snapped a few and my family showers, but they were all amazing showers so I'm sorry I don't have more of the others!

Thanks again to all of you wonderful Hostesses/Hosts!
We are so lucky to have such supportive family and friends!
We love you all!
