Kids say (and do) the darndest things

Since I'm terrible at keeping a journal I thought I would right down a few funny/random things Liam has said or done lately so I don't forget.

Liam is really into hiding right now.  Especially after bath time.  He likes to crawl under his crib and have us find him.  While I was making breakfast one day I noticed him crawl behind our blanket basket.  I yelled "Where is Liam? Where did Liam go?" of course he was snickering thinking he was so sneaky so I said "Has anyone seen Liam?" and he yelled out "No" in the funniest voice.  Once we find him he always says "I see you"

The other day I walked into the upstairs bathroom to find him sitting in the dark on the toilet (lid closed and fully clothed)  I said "Liam what are you doing?" and without hesitating he said "Mom, i'm pooping."  Then he grabbed a few squares of toilet paper, wiped his mouth, flushed the toilet, and said "ok, now I wash hands!"  We have not started potty training at all so this took me by a huge surprise and while many people think this is a window of time where I should start...they are not 38 weeks pregnant.  I'm in no hurry.

Liam has a little table that he sits at to eat and color.  One day he came up to me in a panic and said "Oh no mom, there's color on the table!"  I said "Liam, who colored on the table?" when he realized he was caught he said "ok bye mom!"

Liam likes to use the word crazy a lot. Crazy dog, crazy boy, crazy dad...etc. last week we had a dr check up and i mentioned something about how we have a dog at home. Liam started saying "crazy dog. He is a crazy dog." Over and over. It was kinda embarrassing but the dr got a good laugh out of it.

Liam likes to call Josh and I by our first names but we are trying to get him not to. He will say what you doing josh? Then hurry and correct himself. Or thanks chelsy, thanks mom.

Birthday Weekend

We had a crazy BUSY weekend.  If you don't remember we checked into the hospital to have Liam on Josh's birthday.  October for the rest of my life will be insane.  Especially with baby #2 expected to arrive any day.  Josh is always a trooper about sharing his Birthday, thank goodness.  Saturday was Josh's day so Liam and I brought him breakfast in bed (chocolate milk and toast) and sang him happy birthday.  I took the day off so we spent the morning running errands.  For lunch we went to firehouse for Josh's free bday sub then went home for naps.  Josh went to priesthood session that night.  It was pretty low key but we did buy him some sharp new church shoes that of course he wore last week so I had nothing to physically give him.

My mom made this hilarious card for Josh

Then is was this trouble makers day.  It started last week when Avery and Matt gave him this little car set that he is OBSESSED with.  He calls them "Averys cars" and when he opened them Matt pretended to eat one and now Liam keeps telling everyone that Matt bites his cars.
This morning we got him out of his crib and Josh told him we had a surprise for him.  Liam has been loving cars lately and always asks to go to the toy store to play with trains.  When he saw his new train table he kept yelling "choo choo surprise!  I play all day!"  It was so funny.
(full disclosure, this was a pain in the butt to put together and We stayed up til almost midnight last night putting it together, his reaction was worth it but...the things we do for our kids...)
Grandmom, Papa, and Chi came over for breakfast and gave him this adorable monkey backpack that of course I couldn't get him to hold still for long enough to get a picture.

At his other Grandmom and Papas we opened gifts and it was pure chaos so of course this is the only picture I got.  He had been practicing blowing out candles all day and was so excited when it was finally time to blow out the candles on the "dino cake".  He was very spoiled and we are lucky to have such great supportive families!
On a full side note we have been "octoberizing" our house this week and Liam is in love with the pumpkins.  I snapped a few pics of Liam arranging them that I think turned out so cute!  Liam loves the pumpkins so much that he says goodbye to them before we get in the car and Hi to them as soon as we pull up, and of course night night to them.

Goodbyes

Since Charlie went straight to Mexico Mtc to learn Spanish, before going to Los Angeles, we dropped him off really early Wednesday the 2nd at the Airport.  Nothing could have emotionally prepared me for saying goodbye to my best friend.  It was SO hard.  He will be such an amazing missionary.  I held it together pretty well until I watched Liam run up to "chi" and give him a big hug.  I couldn't help but selfishly think how baby #2 will be this age when Char gets home.  I see how close Liam is with his uncle and It makes me sad that he won't be able to meet him for so long.  BUT...I wouldn't have it any other way.  My testimony has already been so strengthened watching my brother prepare to go on a mission and I know he will do amazing things.  Liam had a hard time understanding why everyone was crying and why Char was leaving.  Now when he sees an airplane he waves and says "hi chi!"  These pictures make me very emotional every time I look at them.  I love and miss you so much buddy!

Nothing like some sweedish fish at 6 am

He kept saying "moms crying?" and wouldn't give Charlie a proper hug and kiss because he was so freaked out by all the tears.

 This breaks my heart...

Later that day we had to have another Goodbye with Aunt Avery.  We miss her so much to, but it is so nice to be able to talk to her on the phone and know that we will see her in less than a year.  There were some water works at this farewell as well and now every time we talk about Avery Liam says "Avery crying."  Last time Liam saw Ave he was barely talking and was still so little.  They really bonded while she was here and I'm so grateful for her and Matt and their love for Liam (aka Billy).  They will be such good parents.

Spending time with char

The week before Chars farewell he received his Eagle in scouts.  It was a big accomplishment and we are very proud of him for completing it!

We were lucky to get to spend lots of family time with Char and Ave the week before he left, here are a few of the fun things Charlie wanted to do!

Night up the canyon with cafe rio and a fire

Coloring lots of "caw caws" for Liam

Packing the night before he left

 Dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse

 Snowbird
(we weren't able to make it)

At the beginning of September we went to Salt Lake Temple with Charlie to take out his endowments!

 Family temple day
I'd also like to document that we were able to do my Dads parents and some of his siblings temple work these past couple weeks.  In April I was baptized for my Grandma who passed away when I was 12ish and a few weeks ago I was able to do her and a few of my aunts and family members Initiatories (sp?).  My sister was able to do My Grandmas endowments and my Brother did all of my Grandpas temple work who was also named Charles Brown.  The picture above was two days before Charlie left.  We were able to seal my Grandparents, then my dad to his parents, my Grandpa to his first wife, and then his two daughters to him and his wife.  I can't even begin to explain how spiritual this whole process was and how much I'm looking forward to completing the rest of my Dad's family members work.  I can feel my Grandparents so close to me in the temple and I am so grateful that families can be sealed for eternity in the temple and for all of the other many blessings we receive from the temple.
