Never want to forget

I have heard a lot of sad things lately.  Thing that make me want to hold my kids and never let them go.  Things that make me remember to be more patient.

Last night I heard Colt crying in the middle of the night.  Most of the time we let him cry for a few minutes and he will go back to sleep, but last night his cry made he jump out of bed and gladly run to him.  When I got into his room and to his crib he grabbed onto me and clung tight.  I picked him up and he hugged me, wrapped his legs around me, and laid his head on my shoulder.  In the dark I watched him look face to face at me, at first I wondered if he was going to throw up, I was so confused until he planted a big kiss right smack on my mouth, laid his head back down, and melted in my arms.  It was one of the most rewarding moments I have had as a mom.  All the late nights, all of the sick days, all of the messes, all of the fighting.  None of it matters.  What matters is that my kids are healthy and happy and that they want me.  I never want to forget that feeling I had last night.  As I laid him back in his crib to sleep and walked back to my room I was on a high I couldn't sleep.  I just laid their thinking I NEVER want to forget what just happened.  So one day when he is an angry teenager I hope I can look back at this post and remember.

I'll Like you for always
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be."

Sweet Heidi

I have been putting this post off because it still just doesn't seem real, she doesn't seem gone.  If you didn't have the pleasure of knowing my Aunt Heidi then you missed out.  She was such an amazing person.

Heidi was diagnosed with Lung cancer at the end of July 2014.  We were in Jackson Hole and my mom didn't tell me until we were on our way, so I wouldn't be sad the whole time, and I bawled the whole way home.  Heidi had such a positive attitude through her whole battle.  She made sure everyone who visited heard her testimony and she knew this was Heavenly Fathers plan for her.  She lived such a full life.  She truly touched everyone around her, I never heard Heidi gossip or talk bad about anyone.  She was a light in everyone's life and she will be forever missed.

Heidi loved my boys so much, she would always comment on my facebook posts and text me asking how they were, she and Jeff treat my kids like their own grandkids.  I will never forget the time I spent with Heidi a week before her diagnosis while we did the dishes in her kitchen and talked, and sitting next to her the day before she passed holding her hand she had the strongest grip.  I think when I told people my Aunt passed away they didn't understand that Heidi was more than an Aunt to both Josh and I.  We love and miss you Heid, I can't wait to be with you again someday!

Heidi Giauque Johnson(1963 - 2014)

Heidi Giauque Johnson
1963 ~ 2014
Our dear sweet Heidi, amazing wife and loving mother passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 due to complications from a non-smoking lung cancer. She passed peacefully, with many family members by her side. Her battle with cancer was short, but valiant. She had only been diagnosed for 5 months. We are grateful for those few months that we had the opportunity to spend precious time with her.
Heidi was born on Nov. 10, 1963 to Don and Thurza Ann (Bobbie) Giauque, the 5th of five girls. She grew up in the Cottonwood/Holladay area and went to Cottonwood High. On the first day of high school she met the love of her life and eternal companion. Jeff and Heidi were married in the Salt Lake Temple May 23, 1984. They raised their three children, Jared, Emily and Annie in South Jordan. Her children were her pride and joy and the treasures of her life. Nothing was more important and brought more joy to her than her kids.
Heidi always had a smile on her face and a compliment leaving her lips. It was important to her to make others feel welcome, loved and appreciated. She was never negative, and found joy in building others up.
For the past 15 years Heidi and Jeff had the unique opportunity of working together every day. During the last 5 years they built a successful business together bringing Firehouse Subs to Utah. Their Sandy store was the first in the state, and later opened a location in Lehi. Heidi was loved and respected both by employees and customers.
Heidi had a firm testimony of the Savior, loved the Gospel and served diligently in many callings at both the Ward and Stake levels. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
Heidi is survived by her husband; Jeff, son; Jared, daughters; Emily (Blake) Heiner, Annie, father and step mother; Don and Barbara Giauque, sisters; Kim (Frank) Wells, Laurie Giauque, Jennifer (Bill) Brown, Julie (Ken) Jenson, step brothers and sister; Todd (Susan) Wheelwright, Terri (Bruce) Evans, Alan (Sherrie) Wheelwright, mother and father in-law; Keith and Mary Johnson, brother and sister in-laws; Julie (Tom) Moser, Joe (Melinda) Johnson, Jina (Boyd) Johnson, Jami Eley. Preceded in death by her mother; Bobbie, nephew; Brandon and grandparents.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 27 at noon, at the LDS chapel on 3364 W. 11400 S. A visitation will be held at the same location on Friday, Dec. 26 from 6-8 and on Saturday prior to the funeral from 10-11:30 am. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens.

December part 2

The second part of December was craaazzzy.  We had something going almost every night.  One Friday night we had no plans so we took the boys on a date.  It had been a long time since we took them to a restaurant and we realized why when we got there.  After dinner we went to Gardner Village to see the Elves, it was freezing and kind of a bust but it beat sitting at home!

Our super cool Canadian friends invited us to go Ice Curling with them.  It was so much fun and Josh and I had never done it before.  We had a blast even though it took a while to get the hang of it.

The next week Matt and Jenni invited a small group of friends to go to dinner and a limo ride that they had won in an auction.  We felt so cool riding in it.  It was such a fun night!  After Dinner we drove through Thanksgiving point to see the lights!

Liam asked me to make "one of those white things like Santa has"

I LOVE sending and receiving Christmas cards.  I should have taken a final picture before I took them down, we got about 15 more after this picture.
Christmas Sunday at church and Liam's last day in nursery
I think my new calling should be hall monitor...4 more months til nursery!
Kim hosted the Giauque family Christmas party at her house.  It was really nice to spend some time with my family since we don't see them as often as we should.  Colt loves my Grandpa, his Great Grandpa Don, when he saw him he jumped into his arms and wouldn't let anyone else hold him not even me.

 The Nativity
Liam was a wise man
We love having Matt, Ave, and Baby Lila here for Christmas!  It was so fun to play with our little Lila cousin, she is a dolly.  Liam, Lila, and Colt played really well together we were so sad when she had to leave!
Christmas Eve this year we spent at my parents house.  We had a yummy dinner and it was nice to be together while we chased the kids around.  After Liam and Colt took a bath they got to open their present from Josh and I with Christmas Pj's and a new Christmas book.

Colt get the short end of the stick, it sucks being the 2nd child.

Lila got some cute Christmas Pj's too!  I love the way she sits with her little legs folded back.
 Colt is always eating.

 Cousins with Grandma
We left Milk and cookies out for Santa and carrots for his reindeer, Liam snuck a few carrots before bed.

Santa came to our house!

We had lots of time to kill Christmas morning since Josh and I woke up at 6:30, Colt woke up at 7:30, and finally we woke up Liam at 8:00.  We sent Colt in to wake Liam up and when I told him Santa came he perked up and said "DID HE REALLY?"  Then ran into the living room.
Naturally I made the boys sit for a picture before tearing through their gifts.  Liam through his hands up in the air and said "I JUST WANT TO OPEN MY PRESENTS!"

Santa sure delivered and boy was Liam excited

Colt was SO happy about the car Santa had left, he sat in it the whole time we opened gifts.

I took Liam to the dollar store a few weeks before and let him pic out gifts.  He picked out a football and basketball for colt, toys and treats for Hendrix, and a puzzle for himself.  I think he had forgotten about them so I wrapped them and he was so excited to give them to him.  Colt gave Liam the puzzle he wanted.
When we were all done opening gifts Josh asked Liam if he got everything he wanted.  Liam sniffled a little and said "yep!"  Josh pressed him, and Liam said "Santa forgot to bring me a skateboard."  It was so mean.  Josh pointed out a bag left under the tree and Liam ran to it throwing the tissue paper everywhere.
"SANTA BROUGHT ME A PIRATE JAKE SKATEBOARD!!!!"
He was so excited.
Liam got A sled, Pirate Jakes pirate ship and telescope, a kinetic sand kit, power tools, a sticker book kit, princess sophia, glow in the dark stars, and some stocking stuffers.
Colt got his car, a furreal friend, the gruffalo, and some bath toys.
Christmas morning we went to my parents house first to eat breakfast and open a few gifts.

Grandma and grandpa got Liam a Microphone that has laughing and clapping for telling jokes, and Matt and Ave got Liam a bow and arrow.  Colt got mini pots and pans from Grandma and Grandpa, and Matt and Ave got colt a light up learning flashlight.  The boys were totally spoiled.
Then we got to skype with Charlie!
Liam sang Jingle bells for Char and they talked for a little bit.

Then Colt wanted in on the action.  I am so sad I didn't get a picture but at one point Colt grabbed the Ipad then hugged it and started kissing it.  It was the sweetest thing, especially since they have never met!

It was hard saying goodbye but I can't believe we only have one more phone call with him!

Then we went to the Johnson's for Christmas Dinner and gifts.  Liam has been asking for months for a "worker guy costume".  Ashly found one for him and when he opened it he was so excited he yelled "A worker guy costume!  I always knew it!"

We loved hanging out with Lila, she is so much fun!  We love her jibber jabber!

New years eve was our last night with the Hash's.  We hung out at my parents house, played a really fun game, and had to say sad goodbyes.  But of course there was dancing, toasting, and chaos.  I love my crazy family.  We can't wait to see the Hash's again!

The Kids were asleep by 10 and Josh was out by 10:03 so I rang in the new years laying on the couch watching re-runs!  Here is to a new year!
